LUXEMBOURG, June 13 (Reuters) - The European Union’s energy chief said on Friday that he hoped gas talks between Russia and Ukraine to resolve a price dispute that threatens supplies to Ukraine and the rest of Europe would continue to Saturday.
“I expect a phone call from Moscow and in the next three to four hours. My intention is to continue with negotiations. I hope we can continue the talks tomorrow,” Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger told reporters as he arrived at a meeting of EU energy ministers in Luxembourg.
“I am optimistic the three parties will do all to avoid a disruption,” he said. (Reporting by Barbara Lewis; editing by Philip Blenkinsop)
