EDF postpones restart of Gravelines 5 and Paluel 2 nuclear reactors

PARIS, Nov 7 (Reuters) - French state-controlled utility EDF extended the outage period of its 1,300 megawatt (MW) capacity Paluel 2 nuclear reactor and the 900 MW Gravelines 5 reactor, according to a update on grid operator RTE’s website on Monday.

The restart of Paluel 2, which has been on a maintenance outage since May 2015, was postponed to November 30, 2017 from previously scheduled August. 31, 2017.

Gravelines 5 restart was pushed back to June 30, 2017 from March 31. EDF did not give reasons for the restart delay, however, a senior EDF executive told parliament on Oct. 25 that a major irregularity was detected during the remounting of a steam generator on the reactor.
