Eleven dead in Cairo clashes since Wednesday-minister

CAIRO Feb 4 (Reuters) - Eleven people died in clashes between pro- and anti-President Hosni Mubarak supporters in Cairo this week, Egypt's health minister said on Friday.

"The death toll from Tahrir incidents has increased to 11 after three died today after they were held in intensive care and their condition was critical," state's news agency MENA quoted Egypt's Health Minister Ahmed Sameh Farid as saying.

Mubarak loyalists, some of them riding on camels and horses, attacked democracy protesters in Tahrir Square on Wednesday and there were further deadly clashes overnight.

On Thursday, a doctor at a clinic treating the casualties said 10 people had died in the incidents.

Farid said around 5,000 have been wounded since massive protests against Mubarak's 30-year rule began on Jan. 25. (Writing by Yasmine Saleh; Editing by Jon Hemming)
