Fuel tanker runs aground in Canadian Arctic -report
CALGARY, Alberta, Sept 2 (Reuters) - A fuel tanker loaded with 9 million litres (2.4 million gallons) of diesel fuel has run aground in Canada's Far North but none of the fuel is believed to have spilled, a media report said on Thursday.
Canadian Broadcasting Corp, quoting the Canadian Coast Guard, reported the tanker was hung up on a sandbar southwest of the community of Gjoa Haven in the territory of Nunuvut.
The vessel, owned by Woodward's Oil, was carrying the diesel to supply villages in the region, the report said.
Coast Guard officials were not immediately available to comment to Reuters. (Reporting by Jeffrey Jones; editing by Peter Galloway)
