Thai stocks may rise on industrial estate case

Mon Sep 6, 2010 2:49am GMT

BANGKOK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Thai stocks are expected to
rise on Monday, extending Friday's gains to a 14-year high as a
positive court ruling on the Map Ta Phut industrial estate case
should continue to spur buying, analysts said.
Shares in PTT Pcl (PTT.BK: Quote) and its subsidiaries could rise
further as their projects will now be able to go ahead and that
could boost profits, after a court last week lifted a ban on
all but two of 76 industrial projects at Map Ta Phut, the
country's largest industrial estate. [ID:nSGE68118P]
"The index should track rallies on Asian bourses after
better-than-expected U.S. data and buying by foreign investors
should continue," said Kiatkong Decho, a strategist at broker
CIMB Securites in Bangkok.
Resistance on the main index .SETI is expected at 935 and
support at 925, he said.
On Friday, the benchmark SET index closed up 1.02 percent
at 929.90, its highest closing level since November 1996, due
mainly to buying of shares affected by the Map Ta Phut ruling,
particularly energy firms.
The market enjoyed net foreign inflows of 584 million baht
($18.75 million) on the day, increasing inflows for the year to
11.3 billion baht, stock exchange data showed.
