TOKYO, March 9 (Reuters) - Japanese utility Tohoku Electric Power Co said on Wednesday its Onagawa nuclear plant was operating normally after a strong earthquake hit northern Japan.

Two reactors, the No.1 and No.3 units, at the Onagawa plant were in operation, while the third reactor, the No.2 unit, has been shut since November for planned maintenance, a company spokesman said.

Separately, Tokyo Electric Power said there was no impact on operations at its power plants after the quake.
