UPDATE 1-Ecuador says to sign new oil deals next year
(Adds details from other oil operations)
QUITO Aug 25 (Reuters) - Ecuador expects to sign new service contract deals with foreign oil operators toward the end of next year, agreements that will include investment plans, the country's oil minister said on Tuesday.
Leftist President Rafael Correa wants foreign oil investors to surrender profit-sharing contracts to become service providers in exchange for fees and operators have held back investment in the OPEC nation while negotiations drag on.
"We will have everything next year," Oil Minister Germanico Pinto told reporters.
Ecuador on Tuesday also extended for one year its oil contract with the Andes Petroleum consortium while the government renegotiates its deals with private oil companies, state oil firm Petroecuador said.
Andes Petroleum, led by the Chinese National Petroleum Corp, produces 60,000 barrels per day, according to recent data from the company's website. It is a stakeholder in Ecuador's heavy crude pipeline.
"The contract has been extended for 365 days," Petroecuador President Luis Jaramillo told Reuters.
Terms of the new contracts will be revealed by the government in September.
Pinto told reporters a unit of Italian energy firm ENI (ENI.MI: Quote) had also agreed to sign a temporary, one-year contract while the new accord was being negotiated. (Reporting by Alexandra Valencia in Quito)
