JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's Northam Platinum said on Thursday it has been losing about 1,500 ounces in platinum output each day since it shut down its Zondereinde mine last week.

"The mine is still not operational since the accident last week," Northam Platinum spokeswoman Marion Brower told Reuters.

Brower said investigations into the cause of the accident, a "fall of ground", had continued and operations would only resume once the probe was concluded.
