Algeria's economy grew 4 pct in 2016, helped by energy - cenbank

ALGIERS (Reuters) - Algeria's economy grew 4 percent in 2016, up from 3.8 percent the previous year, driven by a slight improvement in the energy sector, the central bank governor said on Wednesday.

The energy sector of the OPEC nation's economy grow 5.6 percent compared with 4 percent a year earlier, Central Bank Governor Mohamed Loukal told parliament. Annual inflation last year was 6.4 percent versus 4.8 percent a year earlier.
