Angola postpones opening of new stadium
LUANDA (Reuters) - Angola has been forced to postpone plans to inaugurate its new African Nations Cup stadium next week because it is not yet ready, the tournament's organising committee said on Tuesday.
Angola was due to open the new stadium in Luanda with a friendly against World Cup-bound Ghana on Wednesday but the match will now be played at the city's Cidadela Stadium, which used to be the country's main stadium.
Angola will also meet Congo in Luanda on Saturday in a warm-up match ahead of their hosting of the Nations Cup from January 10-31 next year.
Angola has just two months to complete the stadium in its capital plus new venues being built for the tournament in Benguela, Cabinda and Lubango.
