CCC buys 16,600 T HRW wheat for Congo, Sierra Leone
CHICAGO (Reuters) - The U.S. Agriculture Department said on Wednesday that it bought 16,600 tonnes of U.S. hard red winter wheat for donation to Congo and Sierra Leone.
The purchase was valued at $4.28 million and made from Cargill at $255.49 to $258.43 per tonne FOB. Delivery to vessel is July 5-15 with shipment from Houston, Texas.
The U.S. government is the largest provider of food aid in the world. USDA's Commodity Credit Corp (CCC) bought more than 2.8 million tonnes of bulk and processed commodities worth more than $1.3 billion in the fiscal year ended September 30.
