Uniper's new coal-fired power plant at Datteln to open later

FRANKFURT, Dec 7 (Reuters) - German utility Uniper will start up its Datteln IV hard-coal fired power station in the fourth quarter of 2018, it said in slides for an analyst and investor call on Thursday, having previously planned to start it in the first half 2018.

The 1,050 megawatts plant in western Germany has been held up for years by intense legal battles with environmentalists as Germany seeks to move away from coal-fired electricity long-term. (Reporting by Vera Eckert; Editing by Christoph Steitz)
