Slovak, Polish pipeline operators get EU grant for new gas connection

PRAGUE, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Slovakia’s Eustream and Poland’s Gaz-System have secured up to 107.7 million euros ($128 million) in financial support from the European Union for the construction of a 59-kilometre (37-mile) gas pipeline between the two countries, they said on Wednesday.

The project is part of a North South Gas Interconnection in the region to boost supply security and integrate markets. Construction is set to start in the second half of 2018 and will be finalised by the end of 2021, the companies said in their statement.
