PARIS, Jan 8 (Reuters) - French utility EDF said on Monday it had repaired anchors at backup diesel power generators at its 1,300 megawatts each Bugey 3 and 4 nuclear reactors.
EDF, which operates France’s 58 nuclear reactors, informed French nuclear regulator ASN in June that analysis had shown that the generators were not properly secured due to rust on the anchors, and could malfunction in case of an earthquake.
The company said in the statement that the anchors have been repaired and were now in compliance.
It rated the incident as “Level 2” on the international nuclear and radiological event scale which goes from 1 to 7, with 7 marking the most serious type of event. (Reporting by Bate Felix, editing by David Evans)
