South Africa's Eskom says to step up power cuts

JOHANNESBURG, Feb 11 (Reuters) - South Africa’s struggling state power firm Eskom said on Monday that it would step up controlled power cuts from 1100 GMT after six additional generating units went offline unexpectedly.

Eskom said it would cut 4,000 megawatts from the national grid, likely until 2000 GMT, in what it referred to as “rotational load-shedding”. (Reporting by Alexander Winning, editing by Louise Heavens)
