S.Korea's Wolsong No.3 nuclear reactor to restart after coolant pump issue

SEOUL, Feb 25 (Reuters) -

* South Korea’s nuclear regulator has approved the restart of the Wolsong No.3 nuclear reactor after conducting a safety check of the reactor, which was automatically shut down in January due to its coolant pump issue

* The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission said in a statement on Monday the 700-megawatt nuclear reactor’s coolant pump has been fixed and it will keep monitoring the reactor’s condition

* The restart will bring down the number of offline reactors to six, according to state-owned Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co Ltd (KHNP) website

* KHNP runs 24 nuclear reactors, which make about a third of the country’s electricity (Reporting By Jane Chung; Editing by Rashmi Aich)
