Japan to seek 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat, 200,000 tonnes barley via tender

TOKYO, March 27 (Reuters) - Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) said on Wednesday it would seek 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley to be loaded by July 31 and arrive in Japan by Sept. 26, via a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction that will be held on April 3.

The tender is usually conducted weekly, but the ministry skipped the tender this week due to an adjustment at the end of fiscal year to March 31.

Japan buys a small portion of feed wheat and barley via so-called SBS auctions, in which end-users and importers specify the origin, price and quantity of grain, allowing millers to meet their varied needs for the feed grain. (Reporting by Yoko Matsudaira; Editing by Subhranshu Sahu)
