BANGKOK, July 27 (Reuters) - Thailand’s largest industrial conglomerate Siam Cement Pcl reported a better-than-expected 15 percent rise in quarterly net profit on Wednesday, boosted by higher earnings from its petrochemical business.
April-June net profit was 16 billion baht ($457.14 million), exceeding the average forecast of 13.9 billion baht from nine analysts polled by Reuters. It was the highest quarterly net profit since the fourth quarter of 2010.
Second-quarter sales dropped 4 percent from a year earlier to 109 billion baht, it said in a statement. ($1 = 35.0000 baht) (Reporting by Khettiya Jittapong; Editing by Sunil Nair)
