S.Korea shuts Shin Kori No.3 nuclear reactor for maintenance

SEOUL, Jan 12 (Reuters) -

* South Korea shut on Friday the Shin Kori No.3 nuclear reactor for planned maintenance for three months

* The 1,400-megawatt(MW) reactor went offline for the first time since it began commercial operations in December 2016, state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co Ltd (KHNP) said in a statement

* The reactor, located near the southeastern city of Busan, is the first South Korea-designed APR-1400 model

* South Korea’s state-run utility Korea Electric Power Corp won a bid to construct four APR-1400 reactors in the UAE in 2009, and the first of four reactors would be operational this year (Reporting By Jane Chung; Editing by Subhranshu Sahu)
