China's Sinopec adds 92 bcm of natural gas reserves in Sichuan province

BEIJING, Aug 14 (Reuters) -

* China’s Sinopec has added proven natural gas reserves of around 92.1 billion cubic metres (bcm), equivalent to 2 bcm production capacity per annum, in the southwestern province of Sichuan, the company said in a statement on Wednesday

* New reserves have been found in the Yuanba gas field, adding 40.8 bcm, the Zhongjiang gas field and the Dayi gas field in the province

* Sinopec said it would continue to boost natural gas exploration and development in Sichuan

* By end-July, Sinopec had found 1.2 trillion cubic metres of natural gas reserves in Sichuan, or annual output capacity of 12 bcm, the company said

* China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), another major state-owned oil producer, has also vowed to boost natural gas development in Sichuan, aiming to double its output by 2025 (Reporting by Muyu Xu and Shivani Singh)
