Tereos says to shut Kenya, South Africa trading desks

PARIS, Aug 29 (Reuters) - French sugar maker Tereos said on Thursday it is closing the offices of its trading branch Tereos Commodities in Kenya and South Africa, as part of a global activity review.

Tereos, which has reported a sharp drop in profits in the last fiscal year due mainly to a slump in global prices for sugar, has been carrying out an extensive reshuffle at its trading branch in recent months.

In an emailed statement to Reuters, Tereos also said that Pat Dean, head of Tereos Commodities’ white sugar unit, was leaving the company on Thursday. (Reporting by Sybille de La Hamaide Editing by Geert De Clercq)
