BUCHAREST, Aug 14 (Reuters) - State-owned Romanian power grid operator Transelectrica half-year net profit more than doubled to 226.2 million lei ($68.1 million), driven by higher revenues and market deregulation, it said on Thursday.
Analysts at SSIF Broker had expected a net profit of 190 million lei in January-June. Transelectrica recorded a net of 102.7 million lei in the first half of 2013.
Under an aid deal with the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission, Romania is set to deregulate its energy markets in stages for industrial users and households. ($1 = 3.3210 Romanian lei) (Reporting by Radu Marinas)
