EDF postpones Bugey 4 and Cruas 3 nuclear reactors restart

PARIS, Nov 1 (Reuters) - French utility EDF postponed the restart of two nuclear power reactors on Tuesday as French year-ahead power price for 2017 delivery hit a new high, while the spot for next day delivery jumped on fears over tight supply in the weeks ahead.

French grid operator RTE reported on its website that EDF had postponed the restart of the 900 MW Cruas 3 reactor by a day to Nov. 2, the third postponement in a week, while the 900 MW Bugey 4 reactor’s restart was delayed to Dec. 15 from Nov. 30.

European power prices have hit fresh multi-year highs in recent weeks over fears that EDF could struggle to meet winter demand after French nuclear safety watchdog demanded it carries out further tests on a dozen reactors in a carbon probe. (Reporting by Bate Felix; editing by John Irish)
