France's EDF says nuclear output down 3.8 pct in April

PARIS, May 9 (Reuters) - Nuclear electricity generation by French state-controlled utility EDF fell 3.8 percent in April compared with the same month a year ago due to higher volume of planned reactor outages, the company said on Wednesday.

EDF, which operates France’s 58 nuclear reactors, said April output was at 30.6 terrawatt-hour (TWh). Cumulative output for 2018 was at 143.5 TWh, up 2.4 percent.

EDF reported separately that better availability of its French nuclear fleet and higher power tariffs boosted first-quarter sales by 3.7 percent to 20.45 billion euros, from a restated 19.7 billion euros in Q1 2017. (Reporting by Bate Felix; Editing by Leigh Thomas )
