Engie extends Tihange 3 reactor outage as concrete deteriorates

PARIS, June 15 (Reuters) - French gas and power group Engie’s Belgian unit Electrabel will extend the outage of its 1038 megawatt Tihange 3 nuclear reactor until September 30 because of damage to concrete in parts of the reactor building, Electrabel said on Friday.

The reactor, which has been offline for maintenance since March 31, had been set to come back online on July 1.

Belgium has seven nuclear power reactors with a combined capacity of almost 6 gigawatts, all operated by Electrabel. (Reporting by Geert De Clercq and Bate Felix; editing by Richard Lough)
