Ukraine state grain company seeks to export sunoil to China

KIEV, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Ukraine’s GPZKU is seeking to export sunflower oil and sunflower meal to China under its cooperation with Chinese state company CCEC, the state grain company said on Tuesday.

The company said a new deal between the two firms agreed in Shanghai earlier on Tuesday would allow increased exports of Ukrainian grains, fodder, cereals, vegetable oils to China as well as to the third countries.

GPZKU gave no more details.

Earlier this year GPZKU said it had doubled its grain exports to China to around 1.0 million tonnes in the 2017/18 season.

Under a $1.5 billion Chinese loan-for-grains deal signed in 2012, GPZKU is meant to supply 5 million tonnes of grain to CCEC each year.

Ukraine is the global major exporter of sunflower oil and sent abroad a total of 5.3 million tonnes of the commodity in the 2017/18 season, including 470,000 tonnes to China.

Ukraine also exported 4.2 million tonnes of sunmeal and its exports to China totalled 155,000 tonnes. (Reporting by Pavel Polityuk, editing by Louise Heavens)
