Finnish nuclear reactor won't be ready until 2028 -Fennovoima CEO

HELSINKI, Jan 9 (Reuters) - A nuclear reactor to be built in western Finland by Russia’s state nuclear company Rosatom is unlikely to be ready for commercial use until 2028, four years later than planned, its Finnish owner Fennovoima’s CEO Toni Hemminki said on state TV on Wednesday.

In interviews with Finland’s public broadcaster Yle, representatives of consortium Fennovoima and Rosatom blamed each other for delays in delivering the required documentation to Finland’s nuclear safety watchdog STUK.

Fennovoima said in December that the reactor’s planned start-up had been pushed back by four years to 2028 as more time was needed to secure the project’s licenses. (Reporting by Anne Kauranen; Editing by Catherine Evans)
