PRAGUE, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Czech utility CEZ disconnected Unit 1 of its 2,162 MW Temelin nuclear power plant from the grid due to turbine vibrations, it said on Monday.
“The reason is higher vibrations of the turbine, very likely because of a drop in temperatures,” CEZ said on its Twitter account. “Tests are being run now, but we do not want to risk damaging parts.”
A CEZ spokesman the length of the outage would depend on the results of the checks. Data on CEZ’s market transparency website showed the unit should be back online on Wednesday.
The company said in a statement the work was not connected to the nuclear circuit.
It said checks would take place today and also after the turbine cooled and the reactor was stopped. (Reporting by Robert Muller and Jason Hovet; editing by Jason Neely and Louise Heavens)
