Spanish nuclear power station Vandellos II goes off grid

MADRID, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Spain’s Vandellos II 1,000-megawatt nuclear power station in Tarragona, north-east Spain was halted on Tuesday due to the loss of an electrical connection following strong winds in the region, Spain’s nuclear authority said.

The incident had no impact on workers or the public and had no environmental consequences, the Nuclear Security Council said in a statement. Vandellos II is joint owned by Spanish power companies Endesa and Iberdrola. (Reporting By Sonya Dowsett; Editing by Tomas Cobos)
