Egypt replaces finance minister in new cabinet - ministry of finance

CAIRO, June 14 (Reuters) - Egypt has appointed a new minister of finance in a cabinet sworn in on Thursday by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to mark the start of his second term in office.

Mohamed Maait, deputy finance minister in the outgoing cabinet, was promoted to minister, replacing Amr El Garhy.

Garhy, appointed in 2016, helped lead economic reforms tied to Egypt’s three-year $12 billion IMF loan programme that have entailed tax hikes and deep cuts to energy subsidies. (Reporting by Eric Knecht Editing by Sami Aboudi and Hugh Lawson)
