UPDATE 1-China's April diesel stocks fall for second straight month -Xinhua

    * Commercial crude stocks at end-April up 1.64 pct on month
    * Diesel stocks down 14 pct in April

 (adds details, table)
BEIJING, May 26 (Reuters) - China's diesel stocks fell 14
percent in April from the previous month, in a decline for a
second straight month, on the back of growing industrial and
mining activities, data from official Xinhua news agency showed
on Friday.
China's commercial crude oil inventories at end-April rose
1.64 percent from the previous month, according to China OGP, a
Xinhua-run newsletter, rebounding from a near four-year low.
Refined fuel fell 7.9 percent over the month.
Diesel led the draw in refined products, with a 14.4 percent
fall over the month. Gasoline eased 0.27 percent and kerosene
declined 2.8 percent.
"Demand for gasoline improved thanks to higher temperature
and traditional holidays while diesel demand had support from
higher operation rate with industrial, mining companies,
infrastructure projects as well as cultivation activities in the
spring," the newsletter said.
Xinhua did not provide the outright inventory volumes.
The government rarely discloses levels of either commercial
or strategic oil stocks, making it difficult to gauge real
demand in the world's second-largest oil consumer.
Below table shows China's oil stocks in million tonnes,
according to Reuters calculations based on percentage changes
provided by Xinhua and historical data.
