Poland says LG Chem will invest $339 mln in electric vehicle battery plant

WARSAW, Oct 5 (Reuters) - South Korea’s LG Chem will invest 1.3 billion zlotys ($338.66 million) in a new electric vehicle battery plant in Poland by 2018, Poland’s economy ministry said on Wednesday.

The plant, which will create 700 jobs, will produce more than 100,000 batteries a year starting from 2019.

The economy ministry added that since the start of this year it has attracted 185 investment projects worth more than 5.8 billion zlotys, which will translate into more than 12,000 new jobs. ($1 = 3.8387 zlotys) (Reporting by Agnieszka Barteczko, editing by Louise Heavens)
