EDF's nuclear power output in France climbed 6.3 pct in June

PARIS, July 11 (Reuters) - French state-controlled utility EDF’s nuclear power generation in France soared 6.3 percent year-on-year in June to 28.6 terrawatt-hour (TWh) due to a lower volume of planned outages, the utility said on Wednesday.

EDF, which operates France’s 58 nuclear reactors, said cumulative nuclear power output was at 202.6 TWh since the beginning of the year, up 5.4 TWh, or 2.7 percent compared with same period last year.

Nuclear power generation accounts for over 75 percent of France’s electricity needs. (Reporting by Bate Felix; Editing by Sudip Kar-Gupta)
