LONDON, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) aims to approve a $200 million project this week to refurbish one of Ukraine’s main natural gas pipelines, EBRD regional head Francis Malige said on Tuesday.
“We have a board (meeting) of the EBRD tomorrow and we will bring a $200 million project for Ukraine to refurbish part of the gas company’s pipeline,” Malige said at Ukraine investment conference.
He also said the EBRD would announce the name of a new ‘ombudsman’ for Ukraine this week. It is one of the measures which international lenders hope will help tackle corruption in Ukraine. (Reporting by Marc Jones; editing by Jason Neely)
