Belarus eyes cheaper Russian gas in 2 months-Ifax

MOSCOW, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Belarus hopes to reach an agreement with Russia for a lower gas price in 1.5-2 months, Belarus first deputy prime minister Vladimir Semashko was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency on Thursday.

This almost guarantees that Russia and Belarus will avoid a New Year standoff that in the past led to Russian energy supplies cuts to Europe.
