Japan Atomic to delay construction of 2 new reactors

TOKYO, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Electricity wholesaler Japan Atomic Power said on Thursday it would delay the start of construction of new No.3 and No.4 reactors at its Tsuruga nuclear plant from October due to a delay in trade ministry safety checks.

The company said it would consider whether to delay the start of commerical operations of the two nuclear units.

The 1,538-megawatt No.3 reactor is planned to commence operations in March 2016, while the 1,538-MW No.4 reactor has been slated to begin operations in March 2017. (Reporting by Risa Maeda; Editing by Joseph Radford)
