BEIJING, Dec 31 (Reuters) - China Petroleum & Chemical Corp’s (Sinopec) (0386.HK) Guangzhou refinery will add a diesel hydrotreating facility by the end of next year to make fuel of a quality similar to Euro IV standard, the China Petrochemical News reported on Friday.
Once the 2-million-tonne-per-year facility starts operating, the Guangzhou refinery will be able to produce 4.6 million tonnes of diesel of that quality every year.
Earlier this month, the plant started a 1.4 million tpy coking unit that processed heavy residue oil into light transportation fuels, said a company official.
That allows the plant to push crude throughput to new highs at 267,700 barrels per day in January, near its full capacity of 270,000 bpd, the official added. (Reporting by Chen Aizhu; Editing by Chris Lewis)
