April 14 (Reuters) - Sunoco (SUN.N) confirmed it shut a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit at its 335,000 barrel per day (bpd) Philadelphia refinery following a small flange fire.
The fire was immediately extinguished and there were no injuries, no offsite impacts, company spokesman Thomas Golembeski said in an e-mail.
“To effect repairs, we shut down the FCC at Girard Point. We expect to return the unit to service shortly,” Golembeski said.
Sources familiar with refinery operations earlier said Sunoco shut the 90,000-bpd FCCU at the refinery due to at least one fire overnight. [ID:nWNAB4620] (Reporting by Erwin Seba in Houston and Naveed Anjum in Bangalore)
