Areva signs uranium agreement in Congo

PARIS (Reuters) - France’s Areva said on Thursday it has signed an agreement for uranium prospecting and mining with the Democratic Republic of Congo during a visit to the country by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Areva, one of the world’s top three producers of uranium ore, already operates mines in Canada and Niger. Uranium mining and enrichment account for a quarter of Areva’s sales.
