NAIROBI (Reuters) - Mauritius is likely to expand by 3.8 percent, up from 3.5 percent last year, lifted by a rebound in the manufacturing and construction sectors, the statistics office said on Thursday.
Statistics Mauritius said manufacturing was projected to grow by 1.1 percent this year, up from a contraction of -0.1 percent last year. Construction was also likely to expand by 7.0 percent in 2017 after remaining flat last year.
The textile and food processing industries were expected to drive the manufacturing growth while public and private investments in various projects would support the construction sector, the statistics office said.
