Kenyan shilling steady, propped by remittances and horticulture earnings

NAIROBI (Reuters) - The Kenyan shilling was steady against the dollar on Thursday, propped by remittances from Kenyans abroad and horticulture revenue depite looming political uncertainty, traders said.

At 0844 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 103.20/40 per dollar, the same as Wednesday’s close.

Kenyan opposition candidate Raila Odinga pulled out from the Oct. 26 election re-run while a Jubilee majority parliament passed a controversial election law amendment earlier in today’s session.
