TUNIS (Reuters) - Tunisia’s annual inflation rate rose to 7.8 percent in June from 7.7 percent in May, the state statistics office said on Thursday, the highest level since 1990.

Tunisia’s central bank raised last month its key interest rate by 100 basis points to 6.75 percent, the second hike in three months, to tackle inflation.

Inflation is expected to reach to about 9 percent by the end of this year for the first time, a government official told Reuters last month.
