I.Coast signs $776 mln loan with China Exim Bank for power upgrades

ABIDJAN, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Ivory Coast, one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, signed a $776 million loan deal with China Exim Bank on Wednesday to pay for upgrades to its national power grid, the country’s prime minister said.

The financing, part of a broad post-war plan to renew long-neglected infrastructure, will fund the construction of 13 new transformer substations and the rehabilitation of 14 others as well as nearly 2,000 km (1,240 miles) of new high-tension lines.
