African Markets - Factors to watch on April 13

    NAIROBI, April 13 (Reuters) - The following company announcements, scheduled economic
indicators, debt and currency market moves and political events may affect African markets on
Friday.

 EVENTS:
 *CONGO REPUBLIC - Finance ministers from the West African 
 and Central African monetary unions meet in Congo Republic's
 capital Brazzaville to discuss the franc currency and other
 economic issues.
 *MAURITIUS - Bank of Mauritius to auction 364-day Treasury
 bills worth a total 800 million rupees.
 
 GLOBAL MARKETS
 Global stocks recovered to three-week highs on Friday as
 anticipated strong earnings season took centre stage after
 U.S. President Donald Trump backtracked on his suggestion of
 an imminent missile attack on Syria.                       
 
 WORLD OIL PRICES
 Oil prices edged lower on Friday after U.S. President Donald
 Trump tempered remarks warning of an imminent missile attack
 on Syria, but were still set for their biggest weekly gains
 in more than 8 months.

 SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
 South Africa's rand weakened against a stronger dollar on
 Thursday as rising tensions between Russia and the United
 States over Syria curbed risk appetite, while stocks rose
 led by banks.            
 
 NIGERIA INFLATION
 Annual inflation in Nigeria stood at 13.34 percent in March,
 its lowest level in two years and its 14th straight drop in
 as many months, the National Bureau of Statistics said on
 Thursday.            
 NIGERIA MARKETS       
 Shares in Nigerian oil company Oando            surged 10
 percent on resuming trade in Lagos on Thursday after the
 regulator lifted a suspension.            
 
 KENYA MARKETS
 The Kenyan shilling        was in a firm position against
 the dollar on Thursday supported by inflows from exporters
 in the agricultural sector, traders said.            
 
 KENYA BOND
 Kenya will sell 15-year             and 20-year            
 Treasury bonds worth a total of 40 billion shillings ($397
 million)this month, the central bank said on Thursday.
                
 
 KENYA EAST AFRICAN BREWERIES    
 Diageo's         East African Breweries <(EABL)EABL.NR> will
 start producing Captain Morgan rum locally as part of wider
 investment in its spirit business in response to growing
 demand.
 
 GHANA MARKETS
 Ghana sold 809.89 million cedis ($182 mln) worth of
 seven-year domestic bonds issued on Thursday and will pay a
 yield of 16.25 percent, joint transaction arrangers Barclays
 Bank Ghana said.            
 
 UGANDA INTERNET
 Uganda plans to slap a new tax on social media users from
 July to raise revenue, which human rights activists
 denounced as another attempt by President Yoweri Museveni to
 stifle freedom of expression and quash dissent to his
 32-year-rule.            
 
 TANZANIA BANKING
 National Microfinance Bank (NMB)         , Tanzania's
 biggest bank by market capitalisation, is ready to
 participate in a needed consolidation of Tanzania's
 fragmented banking sector, its chief executive said on
 Thursday.            
 
 IVORY COAST POLITICS
 Ivory Coast inaugurated on Thursday its first senate, an
 upper house to the West African nation's parliament that
 President Alassane Ouattara called a "chamber of wisdom" but
 which the opposition says will tighten his grip on power.
              
 
 BURKINA FASO MINING
 Burkina Faso will terminate a contract with the company of
 Romanian-Australian tycoon Frank Timis to develop one of the
 world's biggest manganese mines, its mines minister said on
 Thursday.            
 
 NAMIBIA INFLATION
 Namibia's consumer inflation was unchanged at 3.5 percent
 year-on-year in March, official data showed on
