TRIPOLI, Dec 15 (Reuters) - A local faction of Libya’s petroleum guard prevented production restarting at El Feel oil field after protesters further north ended a two-year pipeline blockade, an oil worker said on Thursday.
“El Feel oil field is not operating yet because the petroleum facilities guards from the Tebu who guard the field rejected the reopening,” said the employee of Mellitah Oil and Gas, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Mellitah exports oil from the field. The Tebu are an ethnic group present in the area. (Reporting by Ahmed Elumami; Writing by Aidan Lewis; Editing by Adrian Croft)
