Shelling keeps aid ships from reaching Misrata-rebels

CAIRO, April 27 (Reuters) - Heavy shelling by forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi have prevented ships from docking in Misrata to deliver humanitarian supplies and evacuate the wounded, a rebel spokesman said on Wednesday.

“The attacks have prevented a number of ships seeking to enter the port to evacuate the wounded from Misrata,” Ahmed Hassan told Al Jazeera television. “Other ships are also waiting to unload shipments from humanitarian agencies,” he added. (Writing by Sami Aboudi;)
