Blast injures 3 peacekeepers in UN Mali commander's convoy -sources

BAMAKO, May 28 (Reuters) - Three United Nations peacekeepers were wounded in northern Mali on Thursday when a vehicle in a convoy escorting the U.N. force’s commander and police commissioner hit a landmine, sources said.

Two diplomatic sources said the commander and commissioner were in the convoy but did not appear to have been hurt.

The U.N. mission confirmed that three soldiers were injured in an attack on a U.N. convoy between the town of Timbuktu and Teherdge in the desert north. A spokeswoman would not comment on whether senior officials were in the convoy. (Writing by David Lewis)
