Mali 2018/19 grains output forecast to rise 12 pct

BAMAKO, March 9 (Reuters) - * Mali grain production expected
to hit 10.65 million tonnes (mt) in the 2018/19 season, up 12
percent from 9.51 mt the previous year, the agricultire ministry
said.
* Increase is driven by an expected 12 percent rise in maize
output, from 3.43 mt to 3.86 mt.
* Production surplus is expected to be 3.6 mt, the sale of which
will generate about 430 billion CFA francs ($818 million) for
producers, the ministry said.
* Overall cost of harvest is expected to be 283.4 billion CFA
francs ($1.9 million), 40 percent of which will be financed by
the state.
