SANTIAGO, July 13 (Reuters) - Chile is testing a package marked “anthrax” delivered to the country’s foreign ministry on Tuesday, local authorities said.
The Institute of Public Health said it will announce test results on Thursday after testing to “determine the presence of infectious agents associated with bioterrorism.”
Captain Gabriel Huerta said firefighters worked to protectively decontaminate the site after recovering the package.
“We continued functioning normally. There was no evacuation,” said Meilin Leon, a ministry spokeswoman. However the building was temporarily closed to visitors. (Reporting by Brad Haynes; Editing by Alan Elsner)
