Indonesia's Antam sees higher nickel ore, bauxite exports in 2019

JAKARTA, Dec 3 (Reuters) -

* Indonesian state miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) is aiming to export 5 million tonnes of nickel ore in 2019, up from an estimated 3.9 million tonnes in 2018, Chief Executive Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo told reporters

* Antam also expects to ship 2.8 million tonnes of bauxite next year, more than triple the estimated 850,000 tonnes in shipments for this year, Ariotedjo said

* He said Antam will build new smelters with Aluminium Corporation of China (Chalco), which will give the Indonesian firm additional export quota for unprocessed metals

* The Indonesian government grants mineral ore export permits to companies which are building smelters

* Antam is also targeting to produce 28,000 tonnes of ferronickel next year, up from around 25,000 tonnes this year, as its East Halmahera plant starts operation around mid-2019 (Reporting by Wilda Asmarini Writing by Fransiska Nangoy Editing by Manolo Serapio Jr.)
